Hard Water Blues
Damn North East winters!…. Long gone are the days of fair skies and warm weather fishing. Seems like forever ago and forever until they return. What to do in the mean time? I find myself trying to “game plan” fishing every minute of free time I have after ice-out. Going stir-crazy with all the new-found knowledge I have acquired in the off-season: watching the fishing channels. YouTube videos, countless fishing publications and tackle catalogs. I’ve been passing time amassing the gear I need for the coming season. All the fixing and maintenance of equipment is done. Tackle boxes, wading and boating gear organized, ready to go. I’ve even begun tying my own flies and making lures.
Weather has been exceptionally cold with few days (or even hours) above freezing. Ice build-up in the guides and ice shelves extending far in to the water on the usually flowing rivers, I’m officially: Frustrated. Yeah, yeah, Ice fishing….. It calms the itch, but doesn’t soothe the pain. So what to do? Start a Fishing Blog, you say? Hmmmm. Something to help pass the time and fuel the dreams? Why not?
So, “Hello, World”.
